Dry Idea Deodorant...
I gotta say - I would have never bought Dry Idea deodorant of my own accord. Not because of opinions of the brand, but because of the format. It's a roll on - and outside of my mom selling Avon when I was a kid, I'd never used it.
Having said that, I'll say this - I think I'm a convert!
About the only thing that regular deodorant has on it, admittedly, is that it dries faster (which it should, because regular deodorant isn't wet...).
I like everything else about it.
I'm forever misplacing deodorant in my house, but I don't do that with my Dry Idea - the white packaging, and simple, bold writing stand out. The scent is clean, without being overbearing, and you don't get any deodorant marks on your clothes if you apply first and then get dressed.
I stayed dry all day long (and we all know that for as hot as this summer has been, staying dry has been something of a challenge...), smelled nice, and became a convert to the Dry Idea!
*NOTE* In the interest of full disclosure - I received the deodorant for free in exchange for my opinions. All the opinions are my own, and are not influenced by anything/anyone.

Purex UltraPacks aren't exactly a miracle, but they sure do make laundry easier!
Like a lovely little blue care package on my porch, there they were; Purex UltraPacks laundry detergent. I had no idea what they were, or why I was so excited about laundry detergent, but darn it, let's give these things a shot!
First thing I noticed? Measured doses! I have no idea if my husband is unique in this respect, but dude is constantly on me about how much laundry detergent I use. With the Purex UltraPack? No more! Similar in style to the dish detergents that have become so popular, you simply remove a pack from the bag, and place it in your washer, load and fill. Purex recommends that you put the packet of detergent in first - water dissolves the film so that the soap can work, and they say the longer the soap can sit in the water, the better for your laundry.
I also enjoyed the nice, but not overpowering smell. My packets that I recieved were in "Mountain Breeze" which left my clothes smelling nice, but not overpowering. I didn't smell like I'd just been hiking, or anything. And bonus, my guys (my husband and five and a half year old boy) who both have strangely sensitive skin, never broke out, itched, or anything. Hooray!
I found that I had the most stand out, jaw dropping, "Can you believe this stuff got this thing that clean?!" on the hard to wash items. For example - my five and a half year olds winter jacket. This jacket had gone through most of the winter without being washed, and let's not lie to each other - he's five and a half. There's no TELLING what that jacket had been through.
Chuck that jacket and a Purex UltraPack into the laundry, 20 minutes later, I've got a jacket so clean and fresh smelling, you'd swear it just came off the shelf at the store. I didn't pre-treat, I didn't wash it once and then wash it with Purex, nothing. One Purex UltraPack and his coat. That was all that was in the washer. I wish I'd thought to take a Before and After picture of it!
SOLD! :D
My only wish is that these come out in Costco sized boxes. The packages aren't very big, so if you live in a house where you're doing alot of laundry, you'll run through a package of these in a hurry, which would make them pretty cost prohibitive after a while. Which is a shame, because they're fantastic. So I hope that these come out in Costco packs soon!
If you'd like to try them, I recommend that you go toFreeSamplePurex.com to sample this, and all the other fantastic Purex products for yourself!
Full Disclosure; I recieved a full size package of Purex UltraPacks in exchange for this review. The Purex was free, the thoughts are my own. Go.

Reading Eggs!
Recently, my five year old and I were given a free three month subscription to Reading Eggs, a website set up to help kids to learn to read. They have an older kids version of the site, where kids who can read chapter books go, and a younger version of the site, for kids who aren't reading as well yet.
When you sign up, your child takes a quick quiz to determine their reading level, so they can assign your child to the proper level of the website. My son was right on par - he's five, he tested at a five year olds reading level.
The kids can do a vast variety of activities - reading sight words (each word races a car around a race track), reading full books, making a cute little charecter run on a treadmill by feeding the treadmill words in order, putting together words where the letters are mixed up, and more and more. The site is well put together, even with a small amount of reading knowledge, my son can capably get around the site by himself.
The site is colorful and eyecatching, and a terrific addition to life for your new reader! My son (who is a noted perfectionist...) even told me today that the other kids in class come to HIM for help figuring out words they can't read!
*Disclosure:* As I mentioned above, I was given a free trial membership to Readiing Eggs, as a member of homeschool.com. My experiences with the site are mine and mine alone.

Daddy Dates by Greg Wright
I recently recieved a copy of Daddy Dates by Greg Wright. Even though I am the mom of a son, I was hopeful that I could maybe reverse engineer some of the tips in the book to apply to myself and my son. I probably can, although there's some information in there that likely won't apply.
Greg Wright is a motivational speaker from Austin, Texas, and as a young dad of four daughters, was seeking out something alot of dads of daughters don't really seek out - he wanted to get to know his daughters. Not just know that they existed, but KNOW them. So he decided to employ a secret skill, and take each of his daughters on a date, giving them all individual time and attention, just them and dad. Daddy Dates is in equal measure an instruction manual, and autobiography.
It is, also, 100% a book a dad would write. Which is to say, it's in equal parts incredibly nerdy and incredibly charming. Wright has an easy, light writing style, and admits several times over the course of the book that he's by no means an expert, just a guy that had an idea.
If you twisted my arm and told me I had to tell you something bad about Daddy Dates, it would be that no one seemed especially sure what Daddy Dates was supposed to be. The first third of the book read like a text from one of Wright's speeches. The second third read like an instructional manual (despite mentioning several times over that that was not what the book was intended to be), and the last third, by which time the copy editor for the book was clearly not paying attention, read simply like that journal, just a guy trying to get his thoughts out on paper. Any style would have been fine, and made for an excellent light, informative read, but to switch between the three and so wildly change the tone was a bit distracting.
In my opening paragraph, I mentioned that I thought there was some information in the book that as a mother of a son, I couldn't use. Namely, the rings - Wright says in the book that he gave each of his daughters a ring, as a symbol of the closeness of their relationship and how they would wear their rings until they got married. I can't fathom any boy agreeing to that tactic.
Wright also recommends not attempting to date your daughters until they are older, but then later gives ideas for dating younger kids (even mentioning four year olds in particular), which is part of the change in tone in the book that I mentioned.
I would recommend Daddy Dates to any male friends with daughters (I'm actually considering sharing my copy with my brother in law), but beyond that fairly niche reading circle, I'm not sure I'd recommend the book to other readers.
